The mystery crafts moved at hypersonic speeds, flying tens of thousands of feet above the Earth with no distinct wings, engines or visible signs of propulsion whatsoever. Were they flying saucers? Incredibly high-tech drones? The pilots had no idea \u2014 and, according to a recent statement from Navy intelligence officials, neither does the U.S. government.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"mpu-plus-top-right-rail\" class=\"ad-mpu-plus-top-right-rail lazypreload lazyloaded\" data-ad=\"mpu-plus-top-right-rail\" data-ad-unit=\"&quot;mpu-plus-top-right-rail&quot;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In a statement\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblackvault.com\/documentarchive\/u-s-navy-confirms-videos-depict-unidentified-aerial-phenomena-not-cleared-for-public-release\/?fbclid=IwAR3L18F_eN0aPwb2WKXLr3Zj7j2-XVqJXjCeA8xuCtEeUIBOcSWNTLsCoLE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">delivered to the intelligence news website The Black Vault<\/a>, Joseph Gradisher, a spokesperson for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare, announced that the Navy officially considers the craft in these three videos &#8220;unidentified aerial phenomena.&#8221; That means that the eerie videos are authentic \u2014 and that the objects, which were detected in restricted military training airspaces in 2004 and 2015, were not supposed to be there. The objects still have not been successfully identified as any known type of aircraft.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/navy-pilots-ufo-reports-confirmed-new-york-times-military-unidentified-flying-object\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">CBS News: U.S. Navy pilots reportedly spotted UFOs over East Coast\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The UFO footage was also never cleared for public release, Gradisher told The Black Vault \u2014 meaning these are three unidentified phenomena you were never supposed to know about.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Black Vault, the videos may have been improperly released by a former Pentagon employee who had applied for permission to share them across several government agencies as part of a database on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) he was allegedly compiling. The man received permission to share the videos for &#8220;[US Government] Use Only,&#8221; paperwork obtained by The Black Vault shows. However, Navy officials never declassified the footage for public release, Gradisher said.<\/p>\n<p>What was the Navy trying to withhold, specifically? Only some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/65585-ufo-sightings-us-pilots.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">very bizarre aerial acrobatics<\/a>. In one incident filmed in 2004, for example, the unidentified objects &#8220;appeared suddenly at 80,000 feet, and then hurtled toward the sea, eventually stopping at 20,000 feet and hovering,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/12\/16\/us\/politics\/unidentified-flying-object-navy.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fus&amp;action=click&amp;contentCollection=us&amp;region=stream&amp;module=stream_unit&amp;version=latest&amp;contentPlacement=14&amp;pgtype=sectionfront&amp;_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>\u00a0wrote. &#8220;Then they either dropped out of radar range or shot straight back up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To be clear,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/65613-ufos-real-but-not-alien-spaceships.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">nobody is saying<\/a>\u00a0that these mystery aircraft have anything to do with alien visitors; they simply can&#8217;t be identified or explained by current aeronautical knowledge. Comforted?
